Hello there friends! It has been a long time. Too long, in fact.
Anyway, I come to you today bearing information about a pretty sweet cause.
The Entertainment Consumers Association (ECA) is an association that represents gamers. Right now, they're working on a Friend of the Court document, called the consumer amicus brief, which they'll be submitting to the Supreme Court in the near future. They're doing so in support of the industry, and will be attaching a gamer petition along with it.
The petition is a way for consumers to be able to speak out about games deserving to enjoy the First Amendment protections as other entertainment media such as music or movies. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear the violence in video games case later this fall and the petition will be amended to a formal amicus brief in support of gamers and gaming.
